Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) Learning Mall announced the launch of a joint learning platform and a series of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Academy courses on the Learning Mall Premium platform on December 15. It is the first time that CIOB has established a joint learning platform in Asia.

XJTLU signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the CIOB on February 28. Under the MoU, the launch of the joint learning platform deepened the partnership and further integrated CIOB's learning resources on the Learning Mall's platform to encourage learners to pursue lifelong learning.
According to Dr. Xin Bi, Director of the Centre for Knowledge and Information and Learning Mall, Learning Mall integrates online and offline resources to build an engaging innovation community. Establishing this joint learning platform connects high-quality resources from both education and industry sectors. The courses empower the teaching and learning activities on campus while serving a broader range of learners.
Adrian Montague, Director of CIOB Academy, believes that the collaboration between universities and CIOB provides opportunities for knowledge and information exchange. He expects XJTLU Learning Mall, Design School and CIOB to jointly develop high-quality, diversified course content and flexible learning methods for a more productive outcome.
Dr. Konstantinos Papadikis, Dean of XJTLU Design School, says this collaboration is a pioneering exploration of education. We can improve education methods by co-organise academic conferences and develop teaching materials which can be used in the future to help students grow into global citizens with an international perspective, a trait needed for citizens in 21st-century society.

The CIOB Academy courses cover various topics such as planning and organising work, management, health and safety, sustainability, commercial and contractual issues and much more. Course content is delivered by experienced experts from the industry and academia, supporting learners to achieve the key built environment competencies and industry-leading qualifications.
