This webinar celebrates the publication of the Routledge Companion to Radio and Podcast Studies. This book is a much-needed reference source for the expanding field of radio, audio, and podcast study, taking readers through a diverse range of essays examining core questions and key debates surrounding radio practices, technologies, industries, policies, resources, histories, and relationships with audiences.
The book’s global perspective acknowledges radio’s enduring affinity with the local, historical relationship to the national, and its unpredictably transnational reach. In its capacious understanding of what constitutes radio, this collection also recognizes the latent time-and-space shifting possibilities of radio broadcasting, and of the myriad ways for audio to come to us 'live.'
The book brings together scholars from various parts of the world, both well-established and emerging scholars, to conceptualize this multidisciplinary field.

Description: The webinar will feature five invited speakers, each one an expert in a specific area of radio and podcasting studies research, representing each of the five sections of the edited collection, The Routledge Companion to Radio and Podcast Studies. Speakers will make brief remarks summarizing their work for the volume and connecting it to the larger themes and questions in their respective book sections.
Location: The meeting will take place on Zoom. Pre-registered participants will receive personal invitations 24 hours before the webinar begins.
