Overview

Following XJTLU’s exciting and innovative Syntegrative Educational Model, this programme is an equal collaboration between the University and our industry partners, Siasun, and other relevant collaborators including Ecovacs Robotics, Dreame, Bohhom, Deepblue, AI-Speech, and Haier etc., at the School of Robotics in XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang).

Without intelligent robotic systems and applications, things that are taken for granted from household applications to medical services, from modern electrical power systems to space exploration, would be now virtually impossible. As such, we are establishing the Bachelor Programme B.Eng. in Intelligent Robotics Engineering with Contemporary Entrepreneurialism, a new cutting-edge programme designed to meet the fast-growing demands in our society for these intelligent robotics systems. You will learn and apply knowledge and technologies in new areas and advancements in science and technology such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, as well as those related to more traditional areas such as mechanical engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, control engineering, and scientific computing.

In addition, you will benefit from XJTLU’s collaboration with industry partners in the field of robotics, and study in an integrated, industry-focused environment with close links between teaching, learning and real engineering applications.

Not only that, graduates from this unique programme will meet the needs of a wide range of employers, as the uniqueness of our educational model focusing on entrepreneurship and innovation will provide you with the skills and abilities to think like an entrepreneur. It also in this sense provides the foundation for you to go on to become one of the leaders for new industries in the future.

Knowledge and skills

By the time you graduate from the BEng Intelligent Robotics Engineering with Contemporary Entrepreneurialism programme, you will have:

  • A solid understanding of the key concepts and theories in electronic, electrical, mechanical and mechatronic engineering, as well as in the field of computer science
  • Comprehensive knowledge of technologies related to robotics, including signal processing, electronics (analogue and digital), micro-processing systems, control systems, and mechanical engineering (engineering structures, engineering design, manufacturing) and the ability to apply these technologies in a practical setting.
  • Hands-on industry experience gained through site visits and internships
  • Comprehensive knowledge of entrepreneurship and leadership, project management and innovation concepts and how to apply them in a practical setting
  • High-level communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and analytical skills that are transferable across a range of careers and industries.

Graduates from this programme are well prepared for technical, managerial and leadership roles in careers across a range of local, national, and international engineering companies due to their well-rounded, multidisciplinary, and high-calibre engineering and entrepreneurial education. The programme also provides a solid foundation for further studies at masters and PhD levels in fields such as robotics, mechatronics, control and intelligent systems.
