Teacher Training (Initiation Courses)
This course aims to provide a theoretical and practical framework for lesson planning in teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language, focusing on the implementation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the classroom.
In this course, students will examine and reflect on learning activities’ selection, lesson sequencing, time management, and general decision-making to achieve specific educational goals. Moreover, students will identify, adapt, and incorporate different ICTs into their lesson planning to create a technology-enhanced learning environment that fosters student engagement.

Anyone with a B2 level in Spanish or above, with little or no experience teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language.
The course will be conducted in Spanish.
Students will receive a certificate of achievement if they complete a portfolio (minimum 80% of the tasks done in class) and attend 80% of the scheduled sessions.
This course combines theoretical and practical reflection on learning processes and strategies related to course planning and the integration of ICTs into the classroom.
In the sessions and workshops, participants will reflect on the main elements to consider when planning a class, such as analyzing, adapting, and sequencing activities appropriately to achieve specific learning objectives taking into account different students’ needs and interests. Different types of activities will be proposed to combine ICT with textbooks.
Classroom activities and tasks will be done cooperatively, promoting group dynamics and peer feedback, which will require the active and creative engagement of the participants.

Ms. Edith Aurrecoechea Montenegro
Ms. Edith Aurrecoechea has extensive experience teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language and has been a teacher trainer since 2001. She has combined both practices in different institutions in Spain, Singapore, India, and China. In India, for instance, she worked at the Instituto Cervantes-New Delhi and collaborated in the creation and implementation of the Foreign Language Education course at the University of Delhi. She joined the XJTLU community in 2016 as a Spanish Lecturer, where she is currently the Professional Development and Training Manager at the Modern Language Centre.
Ms. Cristina García Sánchez
Ms. Cristina García Sánchez has been a teacher of Spanish as a Foreign Language in different institutions such as universities, colleges, and language schools in Spain, Ireland, and China. She is currently a Spanish Lecturer at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University since October 2020. She has extensive experience teaching general Spanish and Spanish courses for Business and Law. Moreover, she has trained teachers in Spain, Greece, Lithuania, Portugal, Ireland, and Germany.
