The MSc Professional Accounting programme aims to provide you with strong professionally oriented training in accounting.
The MSc Professional Accounting programme provides the combination of practical graduate-level accounting skills and theoretical knowledge required to take your accounting practice to the next level. All faculty teaching this programme hold international accounting qualifications (FCA, ACA, ACCA, CPA Australia and more), and 63% possess in excess of eight years of industry experience in companies such as the “Big Four” accounting firms and Fortune 500 companies, as well as other notable domestic and international corporations.
IBSS students are able to take advantage of the school’s extensive industry links with companies in Suzhou and Shanghai for their research and future careers, as well as the school’s own research centres. Graduates of this programme will be able to obtain exemption qualifications (subject to professional review) for professional stage subjects of the Royal Chartered Accountants ACA (Associate Chartered Accountant) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). After passing the exam and engaging in relevant work for three years, students will have the opportunity to obtain the Royal Chartered Accountant qualification. This programme also lays a solid foundation for students to obtain the Chartered Accountant qualification under ICAEW.

The university offers a broad range of activities aiming to enrich master students’ theoretical and experiential learning and professional development. Trainings, workshops and seminars, covering varieties of themes and topics, both generic and subject-specific, are often offered at both university and school/department levels. Additionally, IBSS programmes offer discipline- specific supplementary modules which will aid to broaden your knowledge in that specific field and enhance your skills. These would include opportunities to work as a teaching assistant, research assistant, or intern at XJTLU. Depending on the programme, field trips and company visits will be organized, and invited talks will be given by the industrial experts and professionals. All these activities will not only support you in your programme study, but also develop your personal and professional skills and enhance your overall career and employability.
Graduates are able to sit for other professional accounting certification exams such as ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants). Many IBSS Professional Accounting graduates end up in the “Big Four” companies and accounting/consultant departments in multinational companies such as Apple and Decathlon. The MSc Professional Accounting programme also provides an excellent foundation for those students who are interested in pursuing doctoral studies.
