Overview

The MSc Operations and Supply Chain Management programme gives you a comprehensive understanding of operations and supply chain management and how it shapes the sales and profit potential of a business.

Delivered in collaboration with industries and the business communities in the Yangtze River Delta region, it is one of the few English-language masters programmes of its kind in China.

Through industry lectures and site visits, you will be able to analyse and examine the latest developments in operations and supply chain best practice. You will graduate with the knowledge and skills to succeed in senior managerial and strategist positions.

The programme is delivered in the International Business School Suzhou (IBSS), one of an elite group of institutions worldwide to be accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) and The Association of MBAs (AMBA). Less than 100 business schools worldwide have triple accreditation.

Knowledge and skills

By the time you graduate from the MSc Operations and Supply Chain Management, you will have:

  • an understanding of how operations can be managed as a strategic resource for the requirements of successful operations and supply chain practice
  • the ability to apply the models, processes and tools used to analyse, design and implement operations and supply chain management and logistics solutions
  • an understanding of the decisions involved in the selection of suppliers as well as the role and objectives of the purchasing function
  • a thorough understanding of the components of supply chains, the material and information flow interactions between them and the analytical and management processes that facilitate successful supply chain performance
  • the skills to perform benchmarking using comparative performance techniques
  • a critical awareness of current research in business and management through independent analysis of a relevant
Our program equips students with the most up-to-date knowledge and skills in operations and supply chain practice, preparing them to reach senior managerial positions or to become an operations, logistics and supply chain management strategist.

Modules


The university offers a broad range of activities aiming to enrich master students’ theoretical and experiential learning and professional development. Trainings, workshops and seminars, covering varieties of themes and topics, both generic and subject-specific, are often offered at both university and school/department levels. Additionally, IBSS programmes offer discipline- specific supplementary modules which will aid to broaden your knowledge in that specific field and enhance your skills. These would include opportunities to work as a teaching assistant, research assistant, or intern at XJTLU. Depending on the programme, field trips and company visits will be organized, and invited talks will be given by the industrial experts and professionals. All these activities will not only support you in your programme study, but also develop your personal and professional skills and enhance your overall career and employability.

TIMETABLE

For this part-time programme, modules will be mainly delivered on weekends.

The programme has helped me understand the complexity behind an organisation’s supply chain and how effective and efficient supply chain management is essential to creating a lasting competitive advantage. I have taken on a job as a business consultant, specialising in supply chain and operations projects, and the knowledge I have built up during my masters helps me on a daily basis.
