Overview

The MSc Business Analytics programme is a response to the rapidly changing business environment. It aims to equip the next generation of top talent with the knowledge and tools they need to integrate big data analytics into their existing professions.

As a Quantitative Techniques for Economics and Management (QTEM) member school, IBSS is able to provide students with additional communication and learning opportunities at 25 top schools worldwide.

MSc Business Analytics serves as IBSS’s flagship programme within this network. Graduates of this programme go on to hold positions in data or information analysis, technical consultancy, IT project management, and customer relationship management (CRM) analysis. As with all IBSS programmes, the MSc Business Analytics programme also features a strong international component, preparing its students for global careers.

Knowledge and skills

By the time you graduate from the MSc Business Analytics, you will have:

  • a deep understanding of cutting-edge and practice-oriented approaches to big data processing and data management, in addition to advanced business concepts;
  • the ability to analyse and model large networks and companies;
  • a range of data-processing and problem-solving skills;
  • proficiency in a wide variety of statistical packages suitable for analysing large data sets; and
  • opportunities to take advantage of the School’s research centres and extensive industry links with companies in Suzhou and Shanghai for your research and future careers.
We aim to train data specialists mastering the entire information chain (business intelligence and statistical methodology), capable by their knowledge of “business” logic and in a context of big data, to provide relevant diagnoses nourishing their economic and management decisions.

Modules


The university offers a broad range of activities aiming to enrich master students’ theoretical and experiential learning and professional development. Trainings, workshops and seminars, covering varieties of themes and topics, both generic and subject-specific, are often offered at both university and school/department levels. Additionally, IBSS programmes offer discipline- specific supplementary modules which will aid to broaden your knowledge in that specific field and enhance your skills. These would include opportunities to work as a teaching assistant, research assistant, or intern at XJTLU. Depending on the programme, field trips and company visits will be organized, and invited talks will be given by the industrial experts and professionals. All these activities will not only support you in your programme study, but also develop your personal and professional skills and enhance your overall career and employability.

Business analytics is an essential skill in all economic sectors, especially in fast-growing service sectors such as finance, retail, marketing, and information and communication technology (ICT).
