The Economics department aims to train students at the undergraduate and postgraduate level in the methods and ideas of modern economics, and to conduct both theoretical, applied, behavioural and empirical research in economics that pushes forward the frontier of knowledge in the field.

The department faculty combine academic expertise with real-world knowledge to create a dynamic research and learning environment. The faculty in the department include economists who study, among other things, econometrics theory, microeconomics theory, energy economics, macroeconomics, decision making under uncertainty, labour economics, economic development, real-estate economics, tourism economics and international trades.

The faculty bring this scholarly expertise to the classroom, augmenting it with personal knowledge to deliver innovative portfolios of undergraduate and postgraduate modules that help our students find the ideal balance among professional, educational and personal goals.

The department offers undergraduate programmes that include a wide array of modules in which students learn about both traditional economics ideas and cutting-edge research. Additionally, our postgraduate programmes provide an excellent background for those going on to further study in Ph.D. programs in Economics.

Students in the Economics department can study in a rich intellectual environment, including regular seminars, student research workshops, and other gatherings that offer opportunities for informal feedback and interaction among students and faculty.
