I work in School of Intelligent Manufacturing Ecosystem as an Assistant Professor. I received my PhD degree in Engineering at the University of Warwick. Before joining XJTLU, I worked with the Warwick Manufacturing Group, Swansea University and TATA Steel UK on a Rapid Alloy Prototyping project (raised by EPSRC with 7 million GBP funding) as a research fellow.
I lead the cooperative researches, teaching and training activities with the with industry partners, which includes Rolls-Royce, ZF, Miba Group, Dyson and many universities worldwide. The topics cover alloy design, through process simulation, thermal-mechanical simulation, oxidation behaviours, coating technologies and etc.
My expertise also covers project management, lab management, student-supervisor liaison and consultation. Since joining XJTLU, I keep working on the establishment of a more vital link between the programme, enterprises and government, in order to explore more possibilities for student’s internship programmes and future careers. I will also commit myself in strengthening the research capabilities for the school to build a comprehensive network between theory teaching and lab practising.
I am an Assistant Professor and one of the founding members of the School of Internet of Things at the XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang). I received my BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea, in 2009, 2011, and 2016 respectively.
After receiving my PhD, I worked from 2016 to 2019 as a Research Fellow in the 5G Innovation Centre (5GIC) at the Institute for Communication Systems, University of Surrey, UK. I was in charge of the networking team developing systems to enable the deployment of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) based transport networks in the 5G testbed system constructed with various industry partners, such as Huawei and Vodafone. From 2019 to 2020, I was a Senior Researcher in Agency for Defense Development (ADD) which is the only research institute for military technologies in South Korea, and developed an advanced satellite system for military communications.
My research interests cover various areas of networking based on my extensive experience of 5G, IoT, network softwarization, SDN/NFV, transport layer protocols, and satellite communications.
I received my Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees from Tsinghua University (China), National University of Singapore and Nara Institute of Science and Technology (Japan). Later, I joined the Knowledge Media Institute, UK, as a Research Fellow and conducted pioneering research in Semantic Web and Knowledge Management. Subsequently, as a Senior Researcher, I helped the National Institute of ICT, Japan, expand its R&D networks in Thailand and neighbouring ASEAN countries through academic partnership and industrial collaboration. Since 2004, I have held various academic and senior administrative positions at international universities leading multiple initiatives in curriculum and programme development, accreditation and quality assurance, international collaboration and industry-sponsored skill-development programmes to promote graduate employability and entrepreneurship. I supervised numerous postgraduate theses and undergraduate projects, received various research grants, and published my research regularly in AI, Data Science, Cybersecurity and cognate area. I am committed to promoting quality education and research in computer and data sciences.
I am also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and an IT Practitioner with decades of consulting experience and credentials (PRINCE2, COBIT and ITIL certified), as well as a long-time member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and International Information System Security Certification Consortium, (ISC)².
I am a senior fellow of UK Higher Education Academy and currently work as an Associate Professor and Programme Director of the BSc Intelligent Supply Chain in School of Intelligent Finance and Business at XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang). Before committing myself to academia, I was on the first batch of British No. 1 retailer Tesco’s international graduate programme and had worked in its Cheshunt head-office and Waltham Abbey Extra store.
I obtained an MSc in Management Research at Saïd Business School Oxford University and a fully-funded PhD in Business & Management at Nottingham University UK. I am passionate about the transformative power of applied business education where I was an Associate MBA Director (Asia) for a UK top 5 business school.
My research has appeared in journals such as: Psychology and Marketing, Business Strategy and the Environment, Behaviour and Information Technology, Internet Research, Technology Analysis & Strategic Management, among others. I have provided consulting services to a few high-profile clients such as General Mills Häagen-Dazs (Dept. of Strategy & Innovation), and international talent programmes for a few SoEs in China (Energy), Japan (Insurance & manufacturing) and Korea (Banking).
I received my Ph.D. from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics at the University of Liverpool in 2019. I gained my M.Sc. and B.Eng. degrees in Mechanical and Automation Engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (2013) and China University of Mining and Technology (2011). Apart from my academic experience, I took the role as the new-tech researching engineer at the Commercial Robotic R&D Center of the ECOVACS Robotic (Suzhou) Co. Ltd. in 2013-2014. I also served as an researcher in the Platform and Content Group at the Tencent Tech. (Shenzhen) in 2019. Before joining XJTLU in Sept. 2020, I was working as a post-doctoral research associate at the School of Engineering in the University of Edinburgh.
My research interests lie in the field of deep learning, machine learning, and computer vision. In particular, I am focusing on generative models, disentangled representations, image segmentation, and medical image analysis with deep learning models.
My expertise in Art & Design has emerged from my background in product design and electronic engineering formulating through contributions to the field of New Media Art & Design for over a decade.
I have contributed to the State-of-the-Art through a variety of projects in performing arts, installation art, device art, product design, service design, light art, heritage design, research publications and seminars in the UK, China, and Portugal.
It is an exciting time to explore the relationships of art, technology, and entertainment. A hybridisation of the technological & the anthropological is underway. It is now truly a time where we can say: “It is not about how, it is about why. It is not about technology, it is about what we do with it.”
I work in School of CHIPS as an Assistant Professor. I received my PhD degree from University of Liverpool. Before joining XJTLU, I worked as a post-doc in Suzhou Institute of Nano-Tech and Nano-Bionics, CAS. I am a fellow of UK Higher Education Academy and a senior member of Chinese Society of Micro-nano Technology. My research interest covers epidermal electronics and neuromorphic devices and I have contributed to more than 30 peer-reviewed publications. I participated in the National Key R&D Program of China as the principal investigator of a sub-task and Central Military Commission Equipment Development Section project as key participant. I am the PI of several national and provincial projects, such as National Natural Science Foundation of China and Jiangsu Science and Technology Programme.
I am an Associate Professor and Programme Director of MSc Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Entrepreneurship & Enterprise Hub (EEH), Entrepreneur College (Taicang). I also serve as a business consultant for domestic and foreign companies and a board member of Chilitag Technology Co., Ltd in Taiwan.
I received my PhDs in Educational Technology & Tourism Management with an emphasis in Technology Management from Chulalongkorn University and Maejo University in Thailand.
Before joining XJTLU, I worked as Associate Professor at Shantou University Business School and ASEAN Marketing Director at Chilitag Technology Co., Ltd. I have eight years of Higher Ed teaching experience and more than a decade of industry work experience with an understanding of digital technology management.
My research focuses on business innovation, technology management, digital marketing, digital transformation, and emerging technology in business applications.
