China presents a wealth of exciting architectural and design opportunities for students and researchers alike. Against the backdrop of the country’s fast-paced modernisation, the Department of Architecture embraces the challenges of this exciting field in an open-minded and forward-thinking manner.
Our students benefit from the experience of our international academic staff, who actively participate in and promote meaningful and innovative architectural design responses to issues facing society in local, regional and international contexts.
We take on real debates in architecture, challenging common perceptions and traditions in order to work towards a more sustainable future. Our unique location in Suzhou allows for students to delve into the dynamics of the city’s urban life, as well as its more intimate spaces. As our students engage with the city’s past and explore its present, we help guide them to design for an ever-expanding range of architectural practices.
Our aim is to educate a new generation of architects who are able to understand and participate in China’s ongoing transformation through their creative and technical competencies.
