SCHOLARSHIPS
1) THE UNIVERSITY OF LIVERPOOL 2+2 DISCOUNT
Continuing XJTLU students who choose the 2+2 study route and transfer to The University of Liverpool for Years Three and Four will be offered a discount of 10 percent off the tuition fees of the University of Liverpool.
2) PROGRESSION SCHOLARSHIP
Progression scholarships are awarded based upon a student’s average marks in the previous academic session. The award for first class marks is currently RMB 10,000; the award for second class marks is RMB 5,000. Nominations are considered automatically, there is no need for students to apply.
3) SUMMER UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS
XJTLU students may apply to conduct a funded summer research project with expert research staff supervision. These prestigious fellowships are highly sought after as an excellent learning experience and resume builder for graduate programmes and employment. 4) STUDY DUSHU LAKE AMBASSADOR SCHEME
Up to 25 percent reduction of annual tuition fee and work placement may be available for all continuing students.

Alumni discount
If you are a graduate of XJTLU, the University of Liverpool or Xi’an Jiaotong University, you will automatically receive a discount of 20 percent of the tuition fee.
Please note that the alumni discount could not be accumulated with the XJTLU entry scholarship.

SCHOLARSHIPS
XJTLU offers a range of scholarships to talented applicants joining the full-time master programmes. Currently, there is no scholarship available for part-time programmes.
1) MASTERS ENTRY SCHOLARSHIP
Deadline: 1 June 2023
We offer a partial entry scholarship of 20, 30 or 50 percent of the total programme tuition fee for all full-time masters programmes based on academic merit.
A full scholarship will be considered for a few applicants with outstanding academic merit and research potential for Masters of Research Programmes. The awardees’ tuition fees will be fully waived.
Applicants from the following MRes programmes are eligible for the full scholarship application:
- MRes Advanced Chemical Sciences
- MRes Computer Science
- MRes Low Carbon Electrical Power and Energy Technology
- MRes Materials Science and Engineering
- MRes Medicinal Chemistry
- MRes Molecular Bioscience
- MRes Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Systems

How to apply
If you intend to apply for the XJTLU masters entry scholarship, you should indicate your interest in the online programme application process, download the Masters Scholarship Application Form, complete and submit the form along with your scholarship supporting documents.
To complete the scholarship application form, you are required to write a brief justification with no more than 200 words to explain why you should be considered for the XJTLU masters scholarship and list up to 10 achievements (if any), for example, published papers, awards, research projects, related internship experience, etc., which may contribute to your scholarship application.
Please note that you must submit the scholarship application form in order to apply for the masters scholarship. If you don’t submit the scholarship application form, you will not be considered for the scholarship.
2) XJTLU MASTERS ‘FRIENDSHIP’ SCHOLARSHIPS
Deadline: 1 June 2023
The XJTLU masters ‘Friendship’ scholarships are offered to students from Russia/ Thailand/ Indonesia/ Malaysia /Nigeria/ Ghana, and international students who live in the Chinese mainland at the time of application in recognition of the contribution these students make to the international environment of XJTLU’s campus.
Scholarships will be awarded up to the value of 30 percent of the total programme tuition fee.
Eligibility
Applicants must be residents of Russia/ Thailand/ Indonesia/ Malaysia /Nigeria/ Ghana, or international students who live in the Chinese mainland at the time of application and meet the minimum entry requirements.

3) GOVERNMENT TALENT SELECTION PROGRAMME FOR STUDENTS STUDYING THE MASTERS IN SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION
Deadline: 1 June 2023
The aim of this scholarship is to create the next generation of civil engineering professionals to support infrastructural development, especially through the Belt and Road Initiative.
This government scholarship will waive the full tuition fee and provide a basic living allowance to support students during the 18-month programme, including free Chinese language classes.
Eligibility
- Only available for applicants to the full-time MSc Sustainable Construction programme
- Be a non-Chinese national
- Meet all the admission criteria for the programme
- Be under 30 years of age at the start of the programme (September 2023)
- Live outside China at the time of application (or be an international student at a university in Jiangsu Province)

All XJTLU masters scholarship applications will be reviewed regularly during the Masters Scholarship Panel Meeting in January, March, May and July.
XJTLU masters scholarships are merit-based and highly competitive. You are encouraged to apply early for admission to XJTLU master’s programmes to ensure the availability of scholarship opportunities. Late submissions will not be considered.
FEES
Currently the tuition fee payable by full-time students on postgraduate research programmes is RMB 80,000 per year. It normally takes two to four years to complete a full-time PhD programme.
For part-time students, tuition fee payable is RMB 60,000 per year. Part-time PhD study is typically completed in four to six years.
Fees are waived for students who are awarded an XJTLU PhD scholarship.
SCHOLARSHIPS
XJTLU offers a range of scholarships to highly motivated and dedicated candidates to pursue research leading to a doctoral degree. Qualified applicants may receive financial support including:
- A full scholarship: consists of a tuition fee waiver for three years (RMB 240,000 total value) and a monthly stipend of RMB 5,000 for three years (RMB 180,000 total value).
- A fees-only scholarship: consists of a tuition fee waiver for three years (RMB 240,000 total value);
- A partial tuition-fee scholarship: consists of up to 50% tuition fee reduction for three years (RMB 120,000 total value).
It is a condition of the award that full scholarship holders are required to undertake a Teaching Assistant or Research Assistant role; while these positions are also available for fees-only scholarship holders and partial tuition-fee scholarship holders, who will be paid with university standard.
Scholarships are available for full-time study only, and there are currently no scholarships available for part-time programmes.
