“Restricted Resources” location in OPAC refers to the collection that are seldom used or in poor conditions which we stored to the compact stacks and only available by request. Patrons are not allowed into the Restricted Resources Area for safety reasons.

How to request an item from “Restricted Recourses”?

  1. Once you have done your search through OPAC system (https://opac.xjtlu.edu.cn) and located the item you need, check to see if the location states that the only available copy is in the “Restricted Recourses”.
  2. If so, make an application by either of the methods below:

Method 1: Apply at Library Circulation Desk on Level 3
Please fill in the XJTLU Library Restricted Resources Borrowing Service Request Form
at the Library Circulation Desk on the 3rd floor. After you have filled in the form, we will tell you the time when the item is ready for collecting.

Method 2: Apply via Email
Please write the following information in your email to Lib-USD@xjtlu.edu.cn.

When the item is ready for collection, you will be informed via your XJTLU/registered email. The procedure usually takes three days.

When and Where should the item be picked up?

Once received the inform email, you should pick up the item at the library circulation desk on the third floor within Three days, or it will be returned to the normal circulation automatically. Please note that on public holidays, this service is suspended.

What if the library cannot find the book?

If the book requested cannot be located, the library staff will send an email indicating that a search for the item will be initiated and ask if the patron wishes to be notified when/if the item is found.
